Thrift Store Volunteer: Specifically for working at the Orange Lutheran Thrift Store.
Level 1 Volunteer: Can support school events, activities, and students, but CANNOT, at any time, be with students unsupervised. Supervision means that at least one Orange Lutheran faculty or staff member is in the same room as the volunteer at all times. Orange Lutheran-sponsored activities and events include those held on and/or off campus for any Orange Lutheran program where students are present.(fewer than 16 hours per month or 32 hours per year)
Level 2 Volunteer: Must complete Level 1 Volunteer requirements, can support school events, activities, and students, and be left unsupervised with Orange Lutheran students. A chaperone is considered a Level 2 Volunteer. (more than 16 hours per month or 32 hours per year)
Volunteer Driver: Must drive an Orange Lutheran-owned or procured vehicle, transport only Orange Lutheran students, complete the Level 2 Volunteer requirements, and meet the following requirements. (Personal vehicles may not be used at any time to transport students to Orange Lutheran activities and events.) A chaperone who drives to support school events and activities and students for school programs is considered a volunteer driver.
Special Volunteer Descriptions
Out-of-state Volunteers - only applies to those volunteer applicants who live out of state
Medical Volunteers - Must also hold a valid, current medical certification (e.g., Registered Nurse [RN], Licensed Vocational Nurse [LVN], Emergency Medical Technician [EMT], or equivalent as approved by OLHS).
Can administer student medications (prescription and non-prescription) during Orange Lutheran events, activities, trips, and travel, as authorized by parent/guardian and physician consent forms. Responsibilities include
securely storing medications, administering per physician orders, documenting administration, and reporting medical incidents to staff.
May assist with emergency medications (e.g., epinephrine auto-injectors, naloxone) if trained, per Health and Safety Code §1799.113. Level 2 Medical Volunteers are prohibited
from administering controlled substances unless specifically trained for emergencies (e.g., naloxone for opioid overdose). Must maintain confidentiality of student medical information per FERPA.
