Leading Edge Academy Volunteer Application

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Leading Edge Academy. Simply complete and submit a volunteer application and upon approval you will be ready to volunteer!

We have two options for volunteering:

Option 1: JDP Background check

This option is good for one year and costs $32. It does not allow you to volunteer on overnight trips, but does allow you to volunteer at all other events. You will be required to provide your Social Security Number (SSN). Your SSN is not stored on Raptor or viewable by any employee at the school. Instead it is sent to the third-party company that runs background checks. 

Option 2: Fingerprint Clearance Card

This option is good until your Fingerprint Clearance card expires (they last for 6 years initially). The cost is $65 plus any fee for fingerprinting. This option does allow you to attend an overnight function.

It is very important that the information you enter on the application matches your government issued identification card including your full legal name. It is important that you provide a valid email address so you can be notified as to the status of your application and for future communication. All information collected on the application will remain confidential and not be shared outside the volunteer program.

If you are enrolled at our online school please choose the campus closest to you or the campus you plan to physically volunteer at.

If you have any questions about the application, please request to speak with your principal for the schools campus. The front office staff at the campus can assist you to contact the right person.

Background Check method

**As part of Federal And State Regulations regarding the safety of our students and staff, we will be performing a background check on applicants prior to approval. An active fingerprint clearance card can be used to satisfy our safety compliance and those individuals will not be required to have the background check when they apply. The Fingerprint card must not be expired at the time of applying and be valid during the course of volunteer activity.**

Option 2*: Fingerprint Clearance Card - Select Fingerprint Cardholder

This option is good to use until your IVP Fingerprint Clearance card expires (they last for 6 years initially). You will still need to renew your volunteer status each year but there will not be any fee as long as you have a valid card. Having the IVP fingerprint card does allow you to attend an overnight functions with Leading Edge Academy.

*If you want to select option 2 but are in the process of applying/need to apply for your Fingerprint Clearance Card, you must wait until you apply for the card through the state and the card shows as active before submitting the application.

IF YOU ARE A FINGERPRINT CARDHOLDER RENEWING OR HAVE RECENTLY OBTAINED THE IVP FINGERPRINT CARD, SELECT FINGERPRINT CARDHOLDER BELOW.

IF YOU ARE RENEWING AND DO NOT HAVE AN IVP FINGERPRINT CARD YOU WILL SELECT VOLUNTEER BELOW.

IF YOU SELECT THE WRONG OPTION AND ARE CHARGED FOR A BACKGROUND CHECK, WE ARE UNABLE TO OFFER A REFUND.

It also means that you have or will watch the required FERPA video located on our website to ensure that you are aware of the right's for a student's information to be private (FERPA) prior to volunteering. In addition, you understand that there will be no refunds provided and this is not a guarantee that you will get to volunteer for a specific field trip. 

The option you select on the volunteer application may require you to provide your United States social security number so we can perform a criminal background check. Your social security number will only be used for this purpose and we do not retain this information.

A criminal background check is required for your application to process and there is a required fee associated. Payment of this fee is necessary to complete your volunteer application. Once payment has been made, the funds are outside of our control and we cannot offer any refunds!

Go back to the functions page(step 4 of this application) using the previous button.
Check if you selected the box for VOLUNTEER.
If that box is filled in, click it to make it empty.
Make sure that the FINGERPRINT CARDHOLDER box is filled in.
Then click next to proceed to the rest of the application. You should not see this payment page again.
