Arma Dei Academy Volunteer Application

Dear Arma Dei Academy Parent/Volunteer,

One of our most important responsibilities is keeping students safe throughout the day. This includes spiritual safety, emotional safety, and physical safety. To help ensure we know who is in our buildings at any given time throughout the school day, all parents and outside volunteers must complete Raptor registration every year. Raptor is an industry leader in “instant” security checks at private and public schools across the country and will be utilized to track visitors and volunteers in the Arma Dei buildings.

Additionally, a distinctive of the Arma Dei community continues to be how families come together to create a culture of service and camaraderie, modeling our mission statement. Although there are times we volunteer based on need, we know it is more fruitful and enjoyable when the volunteer opportunities line up with our gifts and passions. As you complete the application, please let us know where you would thrive in serving the Arma Dei community.

Once your application is submitted and approved, you will receive instructions for the next steps. The information you enter on the application must match your government-issued identification card, including your full legal name. You must provide a valid email address so you can be notified of the status of your application and for future communication. All information collected on the application will remain confidential and will not be shared outside the volunteer program.

If you have any questions, please contact Lora Hollaus, Director of Community Engagement (lhollaus@armadeiacademy.com).

And whatever you do, in word or deed do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

(Colossians 3:17)

PARENT VOLUNTEER AFFIRMATION

August 2023

At Arma Dei Academy, our mission is to glorify God by providing an excellent classical Christian education founded upon a biblical worldview that equips students to live purposefully and intelligently in service to God and others. To this end, parent volunteers are an instrumental group coming together to empower and aid the academy in pursuing its Mission, Vision, & Values.  Each volunteer brings unique abilities and skills that enable the academy to have greater influence and impact for the glory of God. Your service is greatly appreciated, and the academy is honored to have you as a part of our learning community.

The relationship between the volunteers and the staff at the academy is one of mutual support and encouragement in a true team effort.  It is truly a labor of love and cooperation toward a common, God-honoring, good work.

QUALIFICATIONS OF AN ARMA DEI ACADEMY PARENT VOLUNTEER

  • Committed to Jesus Christ and His Word

  • An advocate for classical Christian education

  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality

  • Able to carry out any conflict within the guidelines outlined in the Parent-Student Handbook in a spirit that seeks peaceful reconciliation that honors Christ

  • A servant’s heart towards the staff and parents who attend the school

  • Willing to joyfully share their time, talent, and treasure

  • Dedicated to preventing the spread of gossip and solving conflicts in a godly manner

EXPECTATIONS OF A PARENT VOLUNTEER

A volunteer will use his or her reasonable efforts to:

  • Be familiar with the Parent-Student Handbook.

  • Be consistently up-to-date regarding events and functions as outlined in the weekly Arma Dei Newsletter and Canvas newsletters from teachers.

  • Project an image to the public and to other parents that promotes and enhances the favorable reputation and goodwill of the academy.

  • If the volunteer has concerns of any kind, they should first speak with Lora Hollaus, Director of Community Engagement.

  • Any actions or behaviors of a volunteer that the administration reasonably determines causes the academy’s reputation to fall into public disrepute, scandal, or ridicule will constitute grounds for being uninvited to participate in volunteer activities at the academy.

  • Volunteers should aim to model for the students of Arma Dei Academy a professional, Christ-honoring image. Visitors and volunteers should maintain appropriate dress by wearing nice jeans, slacks, sensible skirts, dresses, shorts, and modest tops (for women).  Athletic tights and yoga pants (without the benefit of a long tunic) are not appropriate.
