Dear Volunteers,
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Gibraltar Area School District. At Gibraltar, we believe in the importance of parent and community involvement in our schools. Positive parental support of a child and the school has a strong impact on student learning. We also realize that community members have numerous strengths that can benefit our students and the quality of learning experiences available in our District. Community involvement not only draws on an extensive network of experiences and resources, it also helps our students make connections between what the are learning in the classroom and their experiences outside of school.
The safety and wellbeing of our students, staff and volunteers is a top priority for our school district. As such, Gibraltar has adopted a policy on criminal background checks for anyone who works with students in our schools. Background checks conducted by Gibraltar include validation of your social security number, statewide criminal checks and nationwide criminal checks. Volunteer service is greatly appreciated and valued by the District. We hope this practice does not inconvenience anyone or discourage anyone from volunteering in our schools or on field trips.
Please be assured that the information provided from the background checks will be used strictly for confirming that there is not a convicted offense in a volunteer’s background that would exclude that individual from working with our students. This procedure reflects the District’s continued efforts to ensure the safety and security of all students. Thank you for your patience and understanding with this process.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me at 920-868-3284 ext. 215 if you have any questions or would like additional information. Brett Stousland, Superintendent, Gibraltar Area Schools
