Welcome to the Galveston Independent School District (GISD) Volunteer Program. Thank you for your interest in supporting the students, staff and schools of GISD.

Galveston ISD welcomes and appreciates the invaluable support of volunteers in our classrooms, libraries, cafeterias and workrooms, as well as motivational mentors to encourage students in need of a supportive adult. The GISD Volunteer Program offers a variety of opportunities for parents, businesses, community organizations and civic groups to have a direct impact on the success of our students.

In order to begin volunteering in GISD schools, you will need to complete the following application. Once approved, you will receive an email notification. For the safety and security of our students and staff, GISD conducts criminal background checks on all prospective volunteers. Please be aware that volunteers may not record video or audio, or take photographs or other still images, without prior permission from the campus principal or other district officials.

All applicants that fall clearly within the listed guidelines will not be approved at the discretion of the Human Capital Management Department authorized personnel.

No Class A Misdemeanor convictions within the past 5 years
No Class B Misdemeanor convictions within the past 3 years
No Class C Misdemeanor convictions within the past 6 months, not including traffic violations
No sexual offense convictions and/or conviction requiring individual to register as a sex offender
