American Academy Volunteer Application

We greatly appreciate your interest in volunteering at American Academy. Simply complete and submit this short volunteer application, and once it is received you will automatically be approved and emailed next steps. Families should track hours under ONE account (unless you prefer to track individually). Please have a primary user set up this account, and either track hours for the entire family or share login info.

When completing this application: 

1. Enter your basic info, and when you see a pop-up to confirm info accuracy, simply click "Confirm".

2. Under the School Preferences tab, if you plan to volunteer at more than one campus, please check all that apply.

3. IMPORTANT: On the Functions Page, please check ALL of the functions at this time for ease when logging hours.

Parents play an invaluable role in a child’s education in many ways, including volunteering and interacting with your child’s school. We have high expectations of our students and staff, and we ask that our parents/ guardians also maintain a high level of courtesy when dealing with teachers, staff, students and other parents. The following are responsibilities and expectations for being an American Academy parent and serving as a volunteer. Please read through the following carefully and only proceed if in full agreement:

• I will uphold American Academy character and manners, just as my student is asked to do, including listening, taking a break if angry, being courteous/friendly, using bun-burger-bun (soften your approach before getting to the “meat” of your communication), and taking responsibility for your part in any interaction.
  
  
  
• I will interact with teachers, staff and others at American Academy in a kind, non-aggressive manner. This includes face to face contact, email communication, and any other form of contact.               

   

• I will not blast or talk negatively about any teacher, staff, student or parent on social media pages and other outlets.

   

• When volunteering, I will focus on the task at hand (what you signed up for) and not wander from that task. i.e. If you volunteer in the library, please only go to the library. Do not wander to other parts of the building, unless asked to do so by staff.

   

• When volunteering with students, I will maintain a high level of professionalism, with no profanity, no gossip, or other actions that would be less than acceptable when around students.

   

• When volunteering with students, I will not only focus on my own child, but the safety, engagement and participation by ALL students with whom you are volunteering.

   

• I understand that I am an extra set of eyes and ears, and when I am on campus will report any potential problems or safety concerns to the front office immediately.

   

• I understand that the privacy of our students is of utmost priority. I will not participate in any gossip or share student stories or information at any time.

   

• When volunteering with students, I will not take photos or post any photos of students other than my own. Many students have media/photo limitations in place, and our school is required to abide by those requests of parents.

   

• I understand that if I do not follow these expectations, I may be asked to leave campus, come in for a meeting regarding behavior, and potentially asked to not volunteer again or come to campus. These cases are rare, but proper conduct is important and imperative to a successful and safe learning environment, which is our #1 priority. Thank you for your compliance.
