Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Richmond Public Schools! To begin, please complete this online application. Most volunteers require an annual $6 background check, payable only by card. (No cash, checks, or invoicing.)
IMPORTANT: Please ensure your information matches your government-issued ID, including full legal name, and provide a valid email for communication.
All applications are reviewed by RPS staff and may require attendance at a Volunteer Orientation. If you apply after the midpoint of a semester, you may begin the following semester. Orientations are offered July–February.
Once approved, you will be placed at a school and connected with a staff point of contact. Expect a response within 1–2 weeks. Applications submitted during school breaks may take longer to process.
You must check in at the front office and sign in through Raptor every time you visit an RPS site. Your activity and hours will be tracked in the portal.
