District Volunteer Application

We appreciate your interest in volunteering in the Lower Merion School District. Volunteers play a vital role in supporting our students, staff and programs. We greatly value our volunteers' assistance in fulfilling our District mission and strategic plan. Simply complete and submit a volunteer application. Once your application is approved, you will receive instructions on next steps.

Please use a laptop or desktop computer to fill out your application and upload documents. Using a tablet or mobile device may result in an incomplete application.

It is very important that the information you enter on the application matches your government issued identification card including your full legal name. It is important that you provide a valid email address so you can be notified as to the status of your application and for future communication. If you are unable to provide an email address, you will have to bring your clearance documents into the District Administration Building in person on Tuesdays between 8:30 a.m. and noon or Thursdays between 12:30 and 4:30 p.m. All information collected on the application will remain confidential and not be shared outside the volunteer program.

If you are a new volunteer, please have all of your clearances ready to upload prior to beginning the application process.

NOTE: If you are renewing your Raptor application, when you apply, you must do so as a NEW VOLUNTEER and upload NEW CLEARANCE DOCUMENTS. Do NOT check "clearances already on file."

When uploading your PA Criminal clearance, please do NOT upload your Record Details Request page, or your receipt.  Please be sure to upload the actual certificate which can be found by clicking the Certification Form ( in blue) in the middle of the Record Check Details page.

  1. Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Certification
    The Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance can be completed online for the quickest results. Once you enter the link you will be directed to the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Portal where you must create an account or log in if you already have an account. (Note: you will need an email address to create an account.) Right Click here to submit the Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance application (). (You must RIGHT CLICK the link and open in a new tab. Failure to open a new tab will result in your application re-setting). There is no fee for this clearance.
  2. Pennsylvania Criminal History Background Check
    The Pennsylvania Criminal Record Check can be done either online or by mail. The online results are available right away. If you choose to mail the form, it could take up to 8 weeks for the results to be returned to you. To complete the process online, right click on this link to https://epatch.state.pa.us and click on "New Record Check (Volunteers Only)" and follow the instructions. (You must RIGHT CLICK the link and open in a new tab. Failure to open a new tab will result in your application re-setting).
    In the Volunteer Organization Name box, put Lower Merion School District. In the Volunteer Organization Telephone Number, put 610-645-1800. At the end of the process, you will need to print two copies of the certification form. You must click on "certification form" in order to pull up the correct form to print. Please keep a copy of your Criminal Record Check for your personal records. There is no fee for this clearance.
  3. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check OR Lower Merion School District Volunteer Affirmation
    • Disclosure Statement: The FBI Criminal Background Check is not required if a Tier I Volunteer has been a resident of Pennsylvania for the entirety of the previous ten-year period and swears or affirms by properly executing a Lower Merion School District Volunteer Affirmation that he or she is not disqualified from service and has not been convicted of a prohibited offense listed in existing law or a similar offense in another jurisdiction.  Please right click here for the disclosure statement. (You must RIGHT CLICK the link and open in a new tab.     • FBI Check: The Pennsylvania Department of Education utilizes IdentoGo to process fingerprint-based FBI criminal background checks. The fingerprint based background check is a two-step process including online registration and fingerprinting taken digitally at a registered site. For more information and to begin the registration process, right click on: https://uenroll.identogo.com. (You must RIGHT CLICK the link and open in a new tab. Failure to open a new tab will result in your application re-setting)Please be sure to choose the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) when registering. Where required, enter the PDE Service Code: 1KG6Y3. There is a $22.60 fee for this clearance which includes an automatic mailed unofficial copy of the results to the applicant.

      Once you have registered, proceed to an approved fingerprinting site to be digitally fingerprinted. A list of approved locations is available on the IdentoGo website. Please note that the closest fingerprinting sites are located at 1 Bala Avenue, Ste. 420, Bala Cynwyd and 950 E. Haverford Rd, Ste. 200, Bryn Mawr. New sites will be opening shortly. Your UE ID Number must be provided to the District so your results can be retrieved.
